Dr Pepper Jello

Dr Pepper Jello

My cousin Colleen got this recipe from her mom, who most likely got it from our grandma - which makes me love this jello even more.

Yes, it’s crazy (as you’ll notice in the recipe card below, us Midwesterners actually call this “fruit salad”), and yes, it’s completely made up of canned/boxed ingredients. But I had multiple helpings at the family graduation party where it was served, and my daughter asked me multiple times to bring home the recipe.

When Colleen shared it, she said it was the only thing her daughter requested for the party. Great minds…

Description

Please note: The jello needs to chill for at least 4 hours before serving.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can Dr Pepper (12 oz)
  • 1 box cherry jello (6 oz)
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz)
  • 1 can crushed pineapple (20 oz)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, bring the Dr Pepper to a boil. Turn off the heat and add the jello, stirring until completely dissolved, about 2 minutes. Add the pie filling and crushed pineapple (with its juices) and stir well to combine.
  2. Pour the mixture into a large serving bowl and refrigerate until set (at least 4 hours, but I like to let it chill overnight).

Notes

  • The Notes section of the recipe is usually my favorite part to write. But honestly, this recipe is so straightforward and so easy, I don't have any additional tips to share. 😉 (But if I missed anything, please let me know and I will happily update!)

D wanted to make a dessert, so I directed him to your website and this was his choice! I would say it's a little on the sweet side for my taste, but quite the interesting mix of flavors! We only had 4 hours to chill it and it did just fine.
